When the original Soho House debuted in London in 1995, it was an instant hit. And the concept—private members’ clubs catering to an elite group in the art, media and fashion worlds, combined with hotels—went global. Today, Soho House & Co operates properties across Europe and the U.S., in locations as diverse as Berlin, Istanbul, Chicago and New York. There’s even a country estate called Soho Farmhouse, an 100-acre idyll—complete with a Cowshed Spa—about 90 minutes from London.
The talk of the town in the British capital these days? Soho House & Co plans to open another property in London, alongside The Ned, Dean Street Townhouse and Shoreditch House. Slated to launch in 2018, White City House will be housed inside the former BBC headquarters in West London. (White City is the northern part of Shepherd's Bush.) The Television Centre building complex, an iconic landmark, notable for its “doughnut” shape, is currently undergoing a large redevelopment project.
In addition to the private club spaces spread across three floors, the White City House will have 45 guestrooms located inside the building’s original, Grade II-listed central ring. Some of these rooms will have views on the Television Centre’s courtyard. Facilities will include a gym, cinemas for film screenings, and two swimming pools, including Soho House’s signature rooftop hang-out.
According to the website, the goal “is for White City House to bring to west London what Shoreditch House brought to east London when it opened in 2007—a big new space for members to enjoy, eat, drink, exercise and relax.”
Word on the street is that bookings might be available as soon as April 2018.
