Sri Lankan Resort Adds Interactive Culinary Experience

The Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort in Sri Lanka is offering an interactive culinary experience by letting its guests pick fresh produce from the hotel’s own garden for a four-course meal. Items include rice, vegetables, herbs and spices. Called “Harvest Table by Anantara,” the program was enacted by Executive Chef Chaminda Pathirana and supported by caretakers of the resort’s farmland. Before the meal, travelers learn about how the resort tends its fruits and vegetables as well as the health benefits of each ingredient. Ranji, a local fisherman, brings in the day’s catch for a main course.

The program is:

11:30 am: Meet the chef and take a guided stroll. Guests also sip on a picked coconut drink.

12:30 noon: Meet Ranji  who shows guests the indigenous kitchen and implements used to prepare the fresh produce.

1:00 pm: Eat the four-course lunch served in a treehouse, complemented by organic wine.

Other activities at the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort include turtle watching and surfing lessons. Harvest Table by Anantara culinary is priced at $195 net per couple, inclusive of a four-course seasonal lunch, with refreshments. The program is limited to a minimum of two guests and up to a maximum of four guests per day. For enquiries or reservations, email tangalle@anantara.com.
