On-the-go in New York City but need a bottle of champagne? The St. Regis New York has you covered. Celebrating its milestone 120th anniversary, The St. Regis New York has launched a Mobile Champagne Butler Service, bringing the hotel’s ritual of sabrage on the road to guests and locals alike, anywhere in New York City—and even in the Hamptons (for the summer only).
What does this entail? The St. Regis Mobile Champagne Butler Service adds a celebratory moment to any gathering, as a trained St. Regis Butler arrives on a branded Vespa kitted out with a basket filled with champagne ready to be sabered for the crowd. Toasting the occasion, the butler will share a brief history of the ritual before slicing open a bottle of bubbly to be poured and enjoyed. Good to know: Sabering lessons can also be added on to the experience for guests who want to try their own hand at the celebratory tradition.
For the summer season, The St. Regis New York will also be offering a Hamptons package, bringing the Mobile Champagne Butler out East. Priced upon request, the package is inclusive of the guest’s preferred champagne as well as a selection of food pairings from the culinary agency Yann Nury NYC.
A little backstory: In lieu of the more traditional uncorking, St. Regis has been ceremonially "decapitating" champagne with a sharpened blade for over a century. A tradition started by John Jacob Astor IV when he founded The St. Regis New York in 1904, the artful beheading of a champagne bottle continues, performed by the brand’s signature St. Regis Butler service.
The St. Regis Mobile Champagne service will be available throughout New York City for parties, events and special occasions starting this June. Bookings must be made a minimum of two weeks in advance and are subject to availability.
