The St. Regis New York will be offering its new menu for Afternoon Tea, beginning May 1, and Rosé Brunch, beginning on Mother’s Day, May 14. The hotel debuted its offerings on Wednesday, which Luxury Travel Advisor was in attendance for. Note: You will definitely want to find yourself enjoying an afternoon here.
Afternoon Tea will be held in the Astor Court daily from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will come in two varieties: Lady Astor’s Tea and Caroline’s Tea. It is named for Lady Caroline Astor, one of New York’s social leaders in the 1890s, who established the Astor 400, a list of the city’s most influential society members. Galas, midnight suppers, and afternoon tea were organized for the exclusive group at The St. Regis.
Lady Astor’s Tea is the more traditional options with English cucumber sandwiches, quiche, scones, and macaroons, while Caroline’s Tea will have a more modern take, with options including marinated shrimp, foie gras mousse, and duck prosciutto. Note: the menu was crafted so that gluten-free bread can be swapped in for those with allergies.
Similarly, guests will have the option of traditional teas (black, green, herbal-infused, jasmine, oolong, rooibos, white) or they can opt for the “tipsy tea.” The tea cocktails include the: Green Tea Martini, with premium vodka, fresh mint, sugar, and milk or cream; Sake & Tea, with floral jasmine and sake; Last Call, made with jasmine tea, vodka, and Domaine de Canton; Bubbly Tea, a combination of du Hammam tea, spring water, peach liqueur, and champagne (we tried this cocktail and it was very refreshing).
Two specialty Afternoon Tea options include the Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dam Tea – Vintage 2006 and the Caviar Tea (served with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label and Osetra Caviar Russe). Both include either Lady Astor’s or Caroline’s Tea menu items.
Additionally, beginning on Mother’s Day, Astor Court will host Rosé Brunch every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Guests will be able to sip on a selection of Rosés from around the world while enjoying classic brunch fare.
Note: While it’s only available on Sundays for the time being, expanding to Saturdays isn’t out of the question based on the popularity.
