Starhotels has announced design details of the Hotel Gabrielli’s renovation of the historical 13th-century palazzo and its six surrounding buildings that altogether form this Venetian property. Originally opened in 1856, Hotel Gabrielli occupies a prime spot on Riva degli Schiavoni and with a direct view of Isola di San Giorgio. The property will reopen its doors at the beginning of 2025.
In reducing the number of keys from 120 to 73 to allow more living space, the new rooms offer multiple areas with maximum comfort and privacy, with separate sleeping, lounging and dressing areas in the larger suites. Spacious front rooms and suites overlooking the lagoon offer postcard views of Venice. Each room is uniquely designed. The top digs, the Presidential Suite, will havee a private altana, the classic panoramic terrace overlooking the roofs of Venice and the lagoon.
In its new chapter, the hotel will also offer a Mediterranean restaurant on the ground floor with a variety of public areas for formal and informal dining and cocktail experiences. Highlights include a Venetian garden adjacent to a canal with private access and a Roof Terrace with Sky Bar, a gym and a private spa.
Owned and run for five generations by the Perkhofer family, the property has been an open house for luminaries from the worlds of art, literature, fashion and politics and was a milestone during the “Grand Tour.” It was a preferred location for Orient-Express travelers who used to stay at the property before departing on their trains.
