Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort in St. Lucia is set to reopen November 1 following an expansive five-month renovation that is adding nine accommodations to the property, upgrading its culinary offerings, introducing a new fitness center and refreshing the spa and the main pool area.
What’s new on the accommodations front? Four one-bedroom beachfront bungalows, being built on the shoreline, and five one-bedroom luxury cottages higher up the mountain, will cater to the rising demands of private accommodations. The rooms will unveil contemporary interior design with a fresh, neutral color palette, complemented by expansive views of the estate gardens, Pitons and the beach.
The property’s dining scene is being upgraded, as well. Located in the main house, the fine-dining restaurant will see an interior refresh that will further show off its location overlooking the beach and the Pitons. It will also add a new open-air bar experience. Down by the beach at the al fresco dining locations, a new "barefoot luxury culinary journey" is in the works. Among other enhancements, the undercover outdoor seating areas are being expanded to allow guests to dine beachside no matter the weather.
The main pool is also getting a complete makeover. The new multi-tiered pool area will house a selection of luxury cabanas and a poolside bar. Good to know: A special events lawn overlooking the main pool is being built to accommodate the increased requests for private celebrations and functions.
The property’s Rainforest Spa, located in an actual rainforest surrounded by foliage and mountain vistas, will add one couples treehouse treatment room. Bringing the total treatment room count to 10, the new couples treehouse will be built on stilts and perched high above the ground. Nice Touch: The new treehouse will have large glass windows that overlook the serene forest, an indoor free-standing bathtub, outdoor shower and balcony that will provide various options for couples to relax before and after their treatments. A new spa partner will also be announced when the property reopens.
A new wellness and fitness facility is also being built more centrally located right on the beach and will be home to a gymnasium and yoga studio.
