It needs little introduction. Established in 1929, The Sunset Tower Hotel is an Art Deco icon in West Hollywood that’s a favorite crash pad for the Hollywood glitterati. Truman Capote once wrote, “I am living in a very posh establishment, the Sunset Tower, which, or so the local gentry tell me, is where every scandal that ever happened, happened.” This is where John Wayne kept an apartment (now the hotel’s salon and spa), and kept a pet cow on the balcony to provide fresh milk for guests’ coffee.
Now, in exciting news for the legendary hotel, The Sunset Tower has embarked upon a large renovation project that will add a new terrace, redesign the swimming pool and wellness area, and give the interiors a makeover. Faithful fans don’t need to worry: The multimillion-dollar renovation won’t touch the famous Tower Bar and Restaurant. The new look will be unveiled in August 2018.
Here’s the skinny: The 81 rooms and suites will stay anchored in an Art Deco style, but will show off new features such as cove lighting, bold artwork, Hermes-inspired leather benches and lamps reproduced from vintage items found at the Paris Puces. The Terrace has been redesigned with a new bar and indoor/outdoor restaurant next to the swimming pool.
Last but not least: To complement The Spa by Joanna Vargas, a new Mansion Fitness center will cover 7,000 square feet (3,000 of which is outdoors). Stocked with Cybex equipment, free weights, elliptical cross-trainers and treadmills, this new gym will also offer fitness camps, yoga and boot camps.
