Grand Hotel Kronenhof in Switzerland has unveiled a collection of newly designed guestrooms and suites, including the signature Kronenhof Suite. Interior design firm Pierre-Yves Rochon was tapped once again for this project which included 10 rooms.
Following a multi-year renovation project, the 175-year-old luxury property has unveiled a refreshed and restored reception area, lobby lounge with views of the Swiss Alps, an intimate bar area, fireplace and smoking room. To date, 29 of the hotel’s 112 rooms and suites have been redesigned.
A notable addition to this phase of renovation is the newly created two-bedroom Kronenhof Suite on the fifth floor. Pierre-Yves Rochon’s vision was to create the ambiance of a private apartment with high ceilings and an abundance of natural light. In the suite, double doors lead the way from the entrance area into the atrium; there, guests will find a bookcase, curated collection of designer pieces and modern furniture. In addition, there is an experience bar with “pocket doors” that is designed like a leather steamer trunk. The master bedroom sports screen artwork commissioned from Museo. The Kronenhof Suite is the largest suite in the hotel yet.
Since 2016, Pierre-Yves Rochon has updated Grand Hotel Kronenhof. In 2019, the firm built the Fumoir, renovated the Salon Julier and introduced new color schemes: A black and white theme complemented by taupe and blue tones. In the third phase, which lasted until the end of 2020, the firm redesigned another 16 rooms. As the 2021 summer came around, the lobby, fireplace room, Kronenhof Bar and reception received new elements, while preserving the original ceiling and its frescoes. The art seen throughout the hotel was selected in collaboration with the Parisian Galerie Durst; Swiss artists in particular were invited to create exclusive pieces.
