A new hospitality brand has crossed our radar. TIN Hotels is the first joint venture of van de Bunt Partners and GHM (General Hotel Management), the group behind the ultra-luxe Chedi hotels, originally founded in 1992 by Hans R. Jenni and hotelier Adrian Zecha. To quote the official website, “TIN Hotels is the new artisanal brand by GHM, focusing on lifestyle experiences.”
Billed as “a new generation of accommodations,” TIN Hotels promises chic style, a cultural connection to the local setting, “wholesome nutrition” and social spaces that “deliver unrivaled communal experiences."
TIN Hotels recently signed a management agreement with China’s Tibet Da’ji Hotel Co. Ltd. to open a hotel in the Tibet Autonomous Region. TIN Lhasa will be part of a six-story mixed-use development project comprising 312,000 square feet, situated close to main attractions like the Jokhang Temple and Potala Palace. The hotel will aim to create transformative, enlightening experiences for guests with authentic experiences involving the local community.
Museum-quality Himalayan art will be on display throughout the property, and private art tours will be available for guests. (Mr. Daji of the owning group is an avid art collector.) As for the hotel facilities, the restaurant will champion an “open concept”, much like the meeting rooms and event venues which will offer co-working space for the local community. A hotel highlight will be the rooftop teahouse with views of the Potala Palace. No word yet on the exact opening date.
