Reschio, the 3,700-acre family-owned estate located in the heart of the Umbrian countryside, will unveil several spaces for private hire and intimate takeovers over the next few months. The new spaces include a lake cabin, pool tent and two secret dens in the ramparts of Hotel Castello di Reschio, which opened its doors for its second season earlier this year.
This summer, Reschio will unveil a campaign-style pool tent, a stone’s throw from the estate’s swimming pool and historic Castello. The tent offers a bar and can be hired privately for a half or full day. Guests can sip on coffees, juices, smoothies and cocktails. The neighboring Il Torrino provides fresh salads, light bites, gelato and prosecco.
Also new this fall is Reschio’s second lakeside cabin. Sitting in the middle of Lago delle Rane, the two-story wooden cabin is available for exclusive hire as a daytime hideaway or for overnight stays. On the ground floor is a living area and outdoor terrace. Guests can enjoy the views, savor dishes hand-delivered by Reschio’s chefs or dive into the lake for swimming and paddle-boarding. Upstairs, open-sided sleeping quarters offer panoramic vistas of the night sky. The cabin is free from Wi-Fi and mobile phone signal.
Inside Hotel Castello di Reschio, the estate’s 10th-century castle that has been converted into a boutique hotel, two new secret dens await, each found high up inside a tower within the castle ramparts. Beginning life 1,000 years ago as a colombaia, or dovecote, the two hideaways are steeped in old-world charm, their design overseen by Reschio’s owner, Count Benedikt Bolza. La Colombaia Piccola is home to a fireplace and plenty of candles, ideal for a dinner for two, serving traditional Italian specialties from Ristorante Al Castello. La Colombaia Grande, with its deep sofas and open fire make it the ideal gathering spot for groups of up to six.
In the depths of the castle’s ancient wine cellars, The Bathhouse encompasses a cavernous saltwater Roman Bath, hammam and sauna. The Private Room has a fireplace, two “conversation baths,” two massage beds, a tepidarium carved into an ancient cave and steam room. Two guests can opt to take over the Private Room for two or four hours, and choose from a range of treatments.
Guests staying at Hotel Castello di Reschio can opt for the Tower Suite. Set across five floors of one of the Castello’s towers, the entrance passes over the castle’s gateway, leading to a living room, two en-suite bedrooms, an in-room bar, a study and a rooftop complete with an alfresco bathtub and views of the countryside. Larger groups or guests in search of an added level of privacy can opt to take over one of Reschio’s restored private homes, eight of which are available to rent. Ranging from three to six bedrooms, the homes have private vineyards, swimming pools, outdoor kitchens and terraces for al fresco dining. Guests can avail of a dedicated concierge service, be it for dinner parties, at-home spa treatments or bespoke local experiences.
Activities include private picnics amongst the estate’s wildflower-filled fields or olive groves, horse rides, bicycle rides and foraging walks in the Umbrian countryside.
