Ever fancy staying at a chic estate? Now you can, with the opening of Villa La Coste, located in Provence between Aix-En-Provence and the Luberon National Park.
The Château La Coste property first opened in 1682, while the winery opened in the 1700s. Developer Patrick McKillen (whose portfolio includes Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley in London) tapped into a list of highly sought-after architects, such as Frank Gehry, Richard Rodgers and the late Oscar Niemeyer (who planned the amphitheater).
Villa La Coste’s La Galerie overlooks the Luberon Valley and the vineyard of La Coste.
In addition to the vineyards (which produces 12 biodynamic wines), the Château boasts an impressive modern art collection, including works by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Lee Ufan, Tadao Ando, Sean Scully, Damien Hirst, David Douglas Duncan, Tracey Emin, Liam Gillick, Andy Goldsworthy, Richard Serra and Paul Matisse.
Villa La Coste comprises 28 Villas Suites, a spa, a library and a bar.
The modern art-themed property offers wine and workshops, as well as tours of the nearby Luberon Valley, Les Alpilles and Aix-en-Provence.
The top suite is the two-bedroom Pool Villa Suite; all suites include Wi-Fi, minibar and a terrace. Good to know: Ten of the Villas Suites have a private swimming pool.
Villa Suites overlook the Luberon Valley and the vineyard of La Coste.
There are five dining options in total (two of which are located at Villa La Coste and three on the larger Château property). The Villa’s dining options are Louison, which is available to the public, and Le Salon, which is for guests only. Three-Michelin-starred Chef Gérald Passedat from Marseille crafted the menus.
The two-floor spa has seven single treatment rooms, one double treatment room, a steam room, two hammams, and a Vichy shower.
To make reservations, advisors may reach out to Clementine Louys (reservations@villalacoste.com), reservations manager.
