Looking for the next exciting thing from Lake Como, Italy? We hear that Passalacqua, a villa constructed in the 18th century by Count Andrea Lucini Passalacqua on the edge of the lake, is undergoing a major revamp and will open its doors in June 2022.
Good News: The villa is actually the sister property to the lake’s Grand Hotel Tremezzo, owned by one of Italy’s most well-known hotelier families—Paolo, Antonella and Valentina De Santis. Current plans aim to re-create the “vintage” spirit of Passalacqua. No suite will be the same and the entire property is being designed to provide total seclusion to A-listers and their entourages.
More facts: This historic mansion, which has played host to some of the most renowned names in music, literature, art and politics—including Napoleon Bonaparte, Bellini and Winston Churchill—stands above the village of Moltrasio. The hotel’s terraced gardens, which overlook Lake Como, will have private hideaways, fountains and centuries-old trees. We even hear the villa will have a secret bar or two and that plans are for what will be acclaimed as the largest suite available on Lake Como.
Also on tap? There will be a rose garden and a vegetable garde. a swimming pool and lakeside tennis court. Plans are to add a private dock on the lake with vintage boats available for guest use.
Italian home-cooked dishes will be served in the dining spaces and in the formal gardens. An open-air gym is planned for the olive grove. Spa treatments will be provided in the fruit garden and the spa program will include yoga at sunrise. The De Santis family is also planning for cinema-under-the-stars experience.
