We have a winner! After six rounds of voting, Nizuc Resort and Spa, located on the southern end of Cancun's Hotel Zone, has officially been crowned The Most Instagrammable Hotel in the World for 2020.
As voted on by the readers of Luxury Travel Advisor, Nizuc, which represented the Central and South America and the Caribbean bracket, topped Melia Ho Tram Beach Resort, which led the way in the Africa, Middle East, Indian Ocean and Asia bracket, in a very close contest, garnering 54.53 percent of the vote. Did we mention there were over 400,000 votes cast? The final score was 219,794 to 183,303.
Honorable mentions: Knocked out in the semifinal round, The Roxbury at Stratton Falls took the crown in the North America bracket, while nhow Amsterdam RAI hotel was the champ of the Europe region.
The Champion
Nizuc Resort and Spa's loungers at the adults pool are sure to be a hit on social media. Throughout, the resort fuses Asian architectural forms with Mexican materials and Mayan iconography.
The Runner-Up
Situated in Vietnam, Melia's most Instagrammable spot would have to be The Level Pool with its picture-perfect cabanas.
While this is certainly a pressing time for the travel industry and world over—and the inspiration for this bracket-style tournament won't even be taking place this year—Luxury Travel Advisor is hoping to provide a fun distraction for those whose anxiety may be a little higher than usual.
And remember: This contest is meant to highlight fantastic resorts from around the world. Please be sure to visit them and give them your business when it's safe and you feel comfortable doing so! We're all in this together.
