W junkies rejoice. The brand opened its first location in Jordan in April. We hear the hotel combines “the energy of the Middle East and charm of Jordanian history, culture and tradition with a playfully modern twist.”
From the 280 rooms (including 44 suites), guests have views of the capital city through floor-to-ceiling windows. Guestrooms also have fluffy, goose down duvets, media hubs, modern bathrooms with rain showers, and a W Mixbar (with ingredients to craft your own cocktail). Tip: The Extreme Wow Suite is a party haven, with its own DJ Deck, entertainment system, pool table and private Jacuzzi. Elements of Bedouin weaving, flower pots and locally designed pillows from the Jordan River Foundation are found throughout the property.
W Amman’s signature restaurant, Enso (opening in fall), will serve dishes inspired by Southeast Asia. Other dining options include Mesh, offering international cuisine, and Aura (also opening in fall), will serve up cocktails and lite bites.
At The Wet Deck, located on the sixth and seventh floors, guests can imbibe drinks and Amman’s up-and-coming musical talent. After a night of fun at The Wet Deck, the Extreme Wow Suite or in town, guests can head to the Away Spa, which offers massages, body treatments, facials and “quick fixes.”
Where should travelers visit within the city? Abdali, the city center, has vibrant, high-end boutiques, exclusive designer stores, cinemas, restaurants and gourmet coffee shops. Al Balad (Downtown) is the oldest section of Amman and the spiritual heart of the city. It has a labyrinth-like souq (market) with everything from traditional clothing to spices and roasted coffee. Historical sites in Al Balad include the Amman Citadel (home to the Umayyad Palace and Temple of Hercules) and The Hashemite Plaza (site of the Roman Theatre and Odeon). One of Amman’s oldest districts, Jabal al Weibdeh, is transforming into the place to be with new restaurants and bars, an artsy crowd and outstanding street art. There are also several art galleries and a plethora of boutique shops. Advisors can reach out to W Amman’s Director of Sales, Amjad Audat, at amjad.audat@whotels.com.
