Waldorf Astoria Chicago has completed its renovation across the grand chateau-style Gold Coast hotel. The refurbishment includes fully updated guestrooms and suites, the lobby and spa, besides a redesigned Presidential Suite and a new Astoria Suite. Guests can also enjoy new F&B experiences, including the lobby-level Peacock Lounge, the newly opened Brass Tack and the re-introduced Bernard’s cocktail lounge.
The renovation of the guestrooms and suites, lobby and Peacock Lounge, Bernard’s, and spa was executed by the KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, which was responsible for the hotel’s original concept and design in its entirety in 2009.
A highlight: The hotel has introduced a new 1,800-square-foot Astoria Suite and redesigned the 2,400-square-foot Presidential Suite. The latter offers two bedrooms, each with private bath and dressing areas, a living room and dining room, two terraces and a fireplace, besides an exclusive fitness room. The suite can also expand into a larger, 3,000-square-foot three-bedroom suite.
The lobby refresh includes the addition of new seating options with side tables. The space flows into a new lobby parlor and Peacock Lounge, which pays tribute to the original Peacock Alley at the brand flagship, Waldorf Astoria New York. Here, guests can lounge, meet others or enjoy a quiet moment, accompanied by all-day menus of light nibbles and beverages including coffees, pressed juices and wines.
Brass Tack showcases an American brasserie with a Chicago twist. Helmed by Executive Chef Nicholas Marino, the restaurant focuses on an approachable touch to Midwest sourced American cuisine, highlighting the best of regional cookery and ingredients. From lively dinners and power lunches to weekend brunch, Brass Tack serves as a dining destination for guests and locals alike. Complementing the cuisine is a robust cocktail program, with a menu dedicated to signature martinis and classic cocktails with a twist. Brass Tack also serves as an idyllic setting for group dining and shared plates with its dining room, spacious bar and new private dining spaces.
Another highlight of the renovation is the return of the popular neighborhood cocktail lounge, Bernard’s. The establishment was restored in its former space, re-emerging as an intimate craft cocktail and champagne bar. The beverage menu offers a mix of classics and innovations, served along with snacks.
Updates to the Waldorf Astoria Spa & Health Club include an additional couple’s treatment room. The spa has also entered a new partnership with Biologique Recherche to offer a range of treatments. Guests can also avail of enhanced membership programs, offering exclusive benefits and insider perks across the hotel. Waldorf Astoria Chicago participates in the guest loyalty program Hilton Honors.
