Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and Hamleys, a British toy company, have announced they will partner to create kids’ offerings for three of the hotel company’s properties in China.
Waldorf Astoria’s locations in Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu will all begin offering a special room package for kids and introduce an afternoon tea program. Waldorf Astoria Beijing also opened a new interactive educational area June 23 called the Kid’s Edutainment Club.
At the hotels’ afternoon tea, kids can play and get their picture with a life-sized Hamleys bear. Specialty food and desserts will also be available, including a Hamleys teddy bear-shaped snack and Waldorf Astoria’s signature red velvet cake.
Children staying in one of the hotel’s specially designed kid’s rooms will receive a brightly colored backpack full of rainbow pens, a water bottle and a teddy bear. These rooms will also provide colorful tents for kids to sleep and play in as well as a kids-sized bathrobe and pair of slippers.
The Kid’s Edutainment Club at Waldorf Astoria Beijing, open to in-house guests and the public, provides a variety of interactive spaces including Art and Craft, Interactive Technology and Reading, Building Blocks and Logical Thinking and Recreation Zones. The summer program offers a wealth of skill-building opportunities, such as cookie-making, painting, storytelling, Lego-building and sand bottle art creating.
The kid’s program is available for children ages three to ten who are accompanied by adults. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends until July 6 and every day from July 7 until September 2.
