Wilderness Announces New Camps in Kenya’s Mara Triangle

Wilderness Safaris has announced the next chapter of its East African offering with the forthcoming launch of Wilderness Mara in June 2026. Located at the base of the Oloololo Escarpment, this camp is positioned to offer access to the Mara Triangle, one of the most wildlife-rich and visually arresting areas of the greater Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Thanks to its location, Wilderness Mara offers guests access to both sides of the Mara River. Twelve tented suites will be set along the edge of a seasonal marsh. Each canvas suite has a freestanding bathtub, outdoor shower and an elevated private deck offering views surrounding ecosystem and frequent visits from local wildlife. Note: With no family units, the camp is tailored for couples or solo travelers.

Beyond the twice-daily game drives, guests can look forward to a full suite of amenities, including a spa, gym and an in-camp photo studio.

The Mara Triangle, managed by the Mara Conservancy, is celebrated for its effective conservation model and remains one of Kenya’s best-kept secrets. With significantly fewer lodges, strict anti-poaching protocols and sustainably managed tourism, the area offers exclusive wildlife sightings, from lion prides and black rhino to vast herds of elephant, zebra and wildebeest. The Great Migration, which sees millions of herbivores cross the Mara River, bristling with crocodiles, remains one of nature’s most riveting spectacles. Even in quieter months, predator-prey drama and birdlife brilliance keep the landscape alive, according to Wilderness.

Wilderness Mara also celebrates the cultural riches of the region through visits to nearby Maasai manyattas, offering a deeper understanding of the people who call this landscape home. Furthermore, hot air balloon rides offered by Governors’ Balloon Safaris provide a bird’s-eye view of this incredible terrain.

In February 2026, Wilderness will further expand its presence in the region with the opening of Wilderness Mara Villas. Formerly Governors’ Private Camp, this exclusive-use property is set along a secluded bend of the Mara River where elephants frequently cross.
