Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is making a decisive push into the upscale lifestyle space in Asia Pacific with a new strategic partnership that brings five Ovolo Hotels in Australia and Hong Kong under the Wyndham umbrella.
It’s the latest sign that Wyndham is thinking bigger (and bolder) when it comes to design-forward, experience-driven hospitality.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for Wyndham, further expanding our upscale presence in the Asia Pacific region by combining Ovolo's strengths in the lifestyle segment with our extensive global network,” Joon Aun Ooi, President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific, said in a statement. “The future of travel isn’t about sameness—it's about spaces with soul, brands with a point of view and experiences that don’t blur into the background.”
For Ovolo, a brand known for its cheeky aesthetic, culturally immersive design, and creative energy, the move opens up powerful growth channels while maintaining control over the brand’s DNA. The five hotels will retain their signature look and feel but gain access to Wyndham’s global sales, marketing, and distribution platforms, including its 120 million-member Wyndham Rewards loyalty program.
“Ovolo isn’t just a hotel brand, it’s a lifestyle, a creative force that fuses fashion, art, music and entertainment,” added Shivang Jhunjhnuwala, Chief of Staff at Ovolo Group. “Since 2010, we’ve built a bold, culture-led brand that disrupts the cookie-cutter hotel experience. Now through our partnership with Wyndham, we’re flipping the script to unlock bold new growth opportunities by franchising a lifestyle brand without diluting its DNA.”
The five properties joining Wyndham this fall span some of the region’s most dynamic urban destinations:
- Ovolo Central, a Wyndham Hotel – A 41-room boutique hotel in the heart of Hong Kong’s nightlife district.
- Ovolo Nishi, a Wyndham Hotel – An 85-key hotel in Canberra known for moody art and bold architecture.
- Ovolo South Yarra, a Wyndham Hotel – A 123-room retro-glam Melbourne hotel with a flair for all things ‘70s.
- Ovolo The Valley, a Wyndham Hotel – A 103-room cultural hub in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
- Ovolo Woolloomooloo, a Wyndham Hotel – A 100-room waterfront escape on Sydney’s Finger Wharf.
The Ovolo deal comes on the heels of Wyndham’s alliance with Sam Nazarian’s sbe announced last year to develop HQ Hotels & Residences, a high-energy lifestyle brand blending nightlife, dining, and design — another key move in Wyndham’s bid to capture the next generation of luxury and lifestyle travelers.
With consumer demand for experiential travel pegged by McKinsey at a $1 trillion global opportunity, fueled in part by Gen Z and younger millennials, Wyndham’s recent partnerships signal a shift from volume-focused expansion to targeted, culture-savvy growth.
Whether it’s art-filled city boutiques or nightlife-fueled lifestyle resorts, Wyndham is clearly staking its claim in the space where edge meets elegance.
