Zannier Hotels is set to make a splash in Vietnam with the opening of a new beachfront resort in summer 2020. The Belgium-based hospitality company has developed a following for its sophisticated approach to luxury, championing simplicity and authenticity (chic without ever being showy). There’s Phum Baitang in Cambodia (a favorite of Angelina Jolie’s), Le Chalet in the French Alps (an intimate 12-room hotel in Megève), 1898 The Post in Belgium (a landmark building in the heart of lively Ghent), and a duo of Namibia safari lodges that opened quietly last year and quickly drew the cool crowd. (Resort buy-outs are a thing at Omaanda, a dreamy hideaway not far from the Windhoek airport.)
Now, the small hotel group has announced Vietnam as its next destination. Nestled on a 240-acre estate of lush gardens and pristine beachfront, Bai San Ho will be situated in Phu Yen province, a coastal enclave known for its stunning beaches and landscapes in the south of the country. Meaning “Bay of Corals” in Vietnamese, Bai San Ho is named for the coral reefs accessed from the private beach that stretches a kilometer long. There will be 71 villas divided into three different architectural types: Hill Pool Villas, designed in the style of the Ede tribes; Beach Pool Villas, inspired by the Cham tribes; and Cluster Villas, built on traditional stilts next to rice paddies. Note that 46 of the villas will come with their own private pools.
Bai San Ho will have plenty of facilities to entertain guests on property—gym, yoga studio, two tennis courts, kids club, the Hoa Sen spa—but guests will be encouraged to explore the magnificent watery surroundings from the sports center, which will offer scuba diving, fishing and boat trips. Farther afield, the resort will offer immersive cultural excursions like market tours, visits to local fishing villages, rice planting and cooking classes.
