W Hotels has officially touched down in Saudi Arabia with the launch of W Riyadh – KAFD in the capital’s King Abdullah Financial District.
True to the W brand, the W Riyadh reflects the brand’s signature high-energy, design-led approach while grounding itself firmly in local context. Designed by LW Design, interiors across the 210-key hotel — including 17 suites, two penthouse suites and the W Penthouse — draw on Saudi heritage through references to Najdi textiles, Al Sadu weaving patterns and desert-inspired materials such as stone and veined marble.
Helen Leighton, Marriott International's (W's parent company) vice president of luxury brands for the EMEA region, notes: “W Hotels has always been rooted in creativity and culture, and W Riyadh – KAFD is an expression of the brand’s design ethos, anticipatory service evolution, and immersive programming.”
The penthouse suites boast floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown Riyadh. Separately, the 390-square-meter W Penthouse goes bigger, comprising two bedrooms, separate living and dining areas, a kitchenette, an office, and a gym area with steam and sauna facilities.
W Riyadh – KAFD brings together a range of dining venues including Sira, a Latin American-inspired concept built around open-fire cooking; Beni, a casual coffee house; and the WET Deck, an outdoor poolside setting with Mediterranean influences. Still to come later this year is Sahari, a late-night lounge programmed around performances and social events.
Wellness and events round out the offering, with an AWAY Spa, FIT gym, and extensive meeting facilities, including 15 flexible rooms and a ballroom.
As Saudi Arabia accelerates its transformation into a global tourism and lifestyle destination, international lifestyle brands like W are increasingly using the Kingdom and the wider Middle East as a platform for expansion.
“The opening of W Riyadh – KAFD is a significant moment for the brand as it enters Saudi Arabia and reinforces our commitment to redefining luxury lifestyle hospitality across the Middle East,” Leighton adds.
And W Riyadh – KAFD is the latest example of how experiential hospitality is gaining traction in the region, driven by a younger, more plugged-in audience and a growing appetite for social, culturally attuned spaces.
