Jorge Hernandez has been appointed spa director of Sense, A Rosewood Spa at Rosewood Bermuda, the island’s 200-acre resort located in Tucker’s Point. In his new role, Hernandez will lead the overall vision of Sense, A Rosewood Spa, with a focus on creating innovative spa and wellness services. The new approach will incorporate local elements such as cedar wood, hibiscus, ginger and pink sands.
According to a statement by Hernandez, a new series of signature “Sense of Wellbeing Retreats” will be available beginning in 2020, each being curated with different fitness activities, spa experiences, culinary options and workshops oriented towards balancing the senses.
Hernandez brings thirteen years of experience to his role as spa director. Most recently, he served as spa director at the Chileno Bay Resort & Residence, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, in Los Cabos. There, he oversaw the spa’s day-to-day operations and finances and developed new, locally inspired wellness experiences.
Prior to joining Chileno Bay, Hernandez was the spa manager at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and Excellence Punta Cana. Earlier in his career, Hernandez oversaw spa operations at the Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya as well as Fairmont Mayakoba.
In other related news, Rosewood Bermuda recently appointed Sascha Hemmann as managing director of the 88-room resort. Apart from leading all facets of the property, Hemmann will also work with the Bermuda Tourism Authority to support the resort’s mission of connecting guests with the history and culture of the island.
