William J. Haandrikman has been named the new general manager of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi.
A 25-year veteran of the luxury hotel management business as well as the Sofitel brand, Haandrikman has most recently served as the general manager of the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit in Thailand, as well as having held other senior management roles with Sofitel in The Hague, Paris, Vienna and Shanghai. He has also served other senior management roles in global cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, New York and Moscow.
Along with being Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi’s general manager, Haandrikman will also serve as the area general manager of AccorHotels North Vietnam. He started his career with AccorHotels in 1992, having recently relocated to Hanoi after accepting his new position.
Under his leadership at the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, the luxury hotel became one of the leading five-star properties in the country. During this time, he also oversaw the opening and managed the Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom in Austria as well as the Sofitel Paris Defense in France.
Haandrickman graduated from Glion University’s hotel school in the Netherlands, where he is originally from. While in school, he completed the ESSEC Executive Management Program as well as the Executive Management Program at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Joining Haandrickman in Hanoi is Joseph Colina, who will serve as the hotel’s new executive assistant manager. Colina recently moved to Hanoi from Washington, D.C., where he was the director of operations at the Sofitel Washington, D.C. Lafayette Square.
Colina started his career with the Sofitel brand as the director of guest services at the Sofitel Minneapolis in 2005. Staying with the hotel brand, he later moved on to the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower as its director of guest services along with the director of rooms at Sofitel Washington, D.C. Lafayette Square.
