Airbnb is introducing Airbnb Luxe. This new experience provides access to properties along with dedicated trip designers who arrange bespoke experiences and services. The collection includes award-winning homes in New Zealand and South Africa, castles in France and historic villas in Tuscany.
After acquiring Luxury Retreats in 2017, Airbnb’s new tier is launching with more than 2,000 handpicked homes around the world. The properties were vetted across 300-plus criteria to meet standards in both design and function. Elements evaluated include functionality and space.
A trip designer tailors each booking to the traveler’s needs. After booking a property, the trip designer could facilitate the check-in process, coordinate local bespoke experiences and activities, and arrange services.
Urban Properties
Airbnb Luxe is also adding cosmopolitan properties to its portfolio. The company is planning to add properties in at least 12 more cities this year, including Milan, Paris and Austin. In 2018, the number of Airbnb bookings for listings worth at least $1,000 per night increased by over 60 percent. The introduction of Airbnb Luxe cuts into this demand.
The launch of Airbnb Luxe is also part of the company's continued effort to expand its clientele. In February 2018, Airbnb Plus was created as the company’s first ever standalone tier intended for everyday Airbnb guests. It started in 13 markets around the world but is now available in over 300 markets. Airbnb Luxe, sitting above Airbnb Plus, inches the company closer to meeting the needs of every traveler at every price point, it says.
