Award-winning sustainability platform Positive Luxury has announced that it will debut the Positive Luxury Awards, to take place in London in February 2020. The awards “will be a global celebration of sustainability and innovation within the luxury industry.” They will recognize companies or individuals that are working towards affecting positive change in businesses and our world.
Positive Luxury was founded in 2011 by environmental trailblazers Diana Verde Nieto and Karen Hanton MBE; it awards brands its “Butterfly Mark,” for their measurable impact and commitment to sustainability. Brands are assessed every two years across five criteria. Current hospitality brands include Hotel Café Royal, Hotel Lutetia, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spa, Soneva Fushi Resort and Soneva Kiri Resort, among others.
Applications for the awards opened on May 7. Companies can apply to the following categories:
- Brand of the Year
- Breakthrough Brand of the Year
- Positive Environmental Impact of the Year
- Circular Economy Pioneer of the Year
- CSR Campaign of the Year
- Innovation of the Year
- Better World Initiative of the Year
- Business Leader of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Retailer of the Year
The judging panel comprises 12 global business leaders, including British-American model and activist Arizona Muse; United Nations officer Simone Cipriani; author of The New Green Consumer Guide, Julia Hailes, business writer and advisor John Elkington; author and Member of The British Fashion Council’s Advisory Board, Frances Corner; and co-founder of Imagine and Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paul Polman.
Positive Luxury will be working with a number of top design schools, inviting students to design a trophy that is ethically made. The chosen design will be presented to Positive Luxury Award winners at a special event in February 2020.
Application submissions will close on September 1, 2019.
