Abercrombie & Kent has released a 272-page “Small Group Journeys 2023” brochure with new destinations across Africa, Europe, South America and Southeast Asia. The small-group journeys will accommodate not more than 18 guests, led by an A&K resident tour director, packed with insider-access experiences. The new collection includes A&K’s “Luxury Small Group Journeys and the limited-edition “Marco Polo Journeys” to more exotic locales.
Luxury Small Group Journeys
The 10-day “South Africa: Safari in Style” includes time to experience Cape Town in depth, including Robben Island and Bo-Kaap, as well as the Marine Big Five at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, and the Big Five on game drives and walking safaris in a private reserve.
The 10-day “Germany: Berlin to Bavaria” itinerary offers a chance to explore the history and culture of Germany from Berlin—where guests will meet with a local artist who lived in the shadow of the Berlin Wall—to Munich, Dresden, Leipzig and the landscapes of southern Bavaria.
The 11-day “Peru: Machu Picchu & the Amazon” itinerary features active adventures including a gastronomy-focused bike tour of Lima, a trek in the Sacred Valley alongside local villagers and llamas, and an opportunity to hike the last portion of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, along with a three-night cruise onboard the Aria Amazon.
The 11-day “Splendors of Chile, Argentina & Brazil” itinerary explores the cities and rugged landscapes of South America with immersive culinary and wine experiences, including wine-blending in Mendoza, and the chance to visit both sides of Iguazu Falls.
Marco Polo Journeys
On the 12-day “Namibia: Dunes & Desert Safari”, guests will encounter rare wildlife in Etosha National Park and marvel at otherworldly landscapes, including the dunes of Sossusvlei. They will meet the indigenous Himba tribe and venture into the remote Kaokoland region. Accommodation includes luxury desert lodges and camps, accessed by private air charters.
On the nine-day “French Gardens: Paris & the Loire” itinerary, travelers will visit the gardens and châteaux of France, and spend a day at the International Garden Festival at Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. Highlights include the Jardin des Plantes in Paris; a master class with a florist at the Château de Chenonceau; a champagne picnic on the grounds of Versailles; and a private tour of a château in the Loire Valley with its owner.
On the 11-day “Singapore & Malaysia: Tapestry of Cultures” itinerary, visitors will discover the contrast between the architecture of Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and the tropical beauty of the highlands. Guests will visit the film locations in “Crazy Rich Asians”, from the hawker-filled Newton Food Centre to the futuristic Supertree Observatory and the historic Blue Mansion, where they learn to play mahjong from an expert.
The 10-day “Taiwan: Natural & Cultural Riches” itinerary will take guests from the Qing Dynasty-era temples of Taipei to the forests, gorges and alpine peaks of Taroko National Park. They can learn the intricacies of harvesting tea and meet an expert who explains Taiwan’s pivotal place in world politics.
On the 12-day “Nepal & Tibet: From the Jungle to the Roof of the World” journey, guests will discover the cultural treasures of the Kathmandu Valley and track one-horned rhinos and the Bengal tiger in the Chitwan National Park. Highlights include meeting an expert climber before flightseeing around Mount Everest; exploring Lhasa’s Potala Palace; and unwinding in the foothills of Dhulikhel.
Those who prefer to travel with a group of family or friends may “Take It Private,” with A&K recreating a small-group itinerary exclusively for their private party.
