Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent reveals his newest itinerary, “Around the World with Geoffrey Kent: An Inspiring Expedition by Private Jet” (October 13 to November 7, 2024). Destinations include Japan, India, Malta, Senegal, Saint Helena, Uruguay, Easter Island and French Polynesia.
According to Kent, nearly all of the stops will be "well off the typical tourist paths" and will include several places that he has never visited before. “We will be among the first to experience a private tea ceremony in Kanazawa’s Kenroku-en Garden, enjoy an audience and dinner with the King of Ladakh and take part in a private parade in Malta as the guests of honor.”
Travelers will discover Kanazawa, “the other Japan” known for its cultural offerings, alongside a renowned Japanologist, and dine at Ketataisha Shrine with a performance of the Sacred Shinto dance, an opportunity available nowhere else in Japan. They will also experience the cultural heritage of the former Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh and take in a central Asian polo match organized exclusively for A&K guests.
Elsewhere on the trip, guests will relive Malta’s World War II history with private visits to the Lascaris War Rooms and the underground tunnels used to move materials in wartime. A visit to Senegal’s Pink Lake will follow the route of the Dakar Rally by a 4x4 vehicle, before taking in a visit to Goree Island by private ferry. The trip will explore Saint Helena Island, one of the most remote islands on earth, and trace Napoleon’s footsteps, visiting the house where the deposed emperor spent his final years.
Travelers can additionally discover the art, culture and cuisine of Uruguay, learning the tango at a private lesson, visiting the home of a local artist and enjoying a meal designed by Chef Francis Mallman. Travelers will have the chance to view Easter Island’s moai statues up close and enjoy a sunset cocktail atop a dormant volcano. To complete the trip, guests can unwind at The Brando, an eco-friendly resort reserved exclusively for A&K guests.
Good to know: Guests can personalize their journey with a choice of “Design Your Day” activities, including active outdoor excursions, cultural encounters and wellness experiences. In Malta, for instance, they can visit medieval Mdina with gates recognizable to “Game of Thrones” fans, explore the official summer residence of Malta’s president, learn the art of falconry or visit temples that predate the Egyptian pyramids.
