Coming in 2018: andBeyond will be opening the brand-new andBeyond Tengile River Lodge, as well as re-opening andBeyond Phinda Homestead, andBeyond Phinda Vlei Lodge and andBeyond Bateleur Camp.
Situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, andBeyond Tengile River Lodge will share the same traversing rights as andBeyond Kirkman’s Kamp. Interiors are done by Anatomy Design, aimed to create that authentic safari feel in a modern fashion.
AndBeyond Tengile River Lodge ("tengile" meaning "tranquil") will have nine "floating suites" looking over the Sand river from the shelter of a cool forest. Following the curve of the river bank, each area in the lodge will offer impressive river views. Raised above ground level, the spacious suites will have sunken lounges, elegant bedrooms and bathrooms that open out onto the forest. Note: Living areas can be converted to cater for children’s sleeping arrangements at night.
Eco-friendly construction materials have been selected with durability in mind. Automation is also being put into place to reduce the use of electricity and the use of solar power has been combined with various procedures designed to increase efficiency both during the build phase and after. The camp also has a spa and gym area; it opens December 1, 2018.
In South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, andBeyond Phinda Homestead is being rebuilt following a fire in December 2016. Charged with recreating the previously existing lodge, interior designers Fox Browne Creative will be decorating the new lodge as a contemporary bush home. They will use raw materials, quirky accents and local flavors that hark back to the reserve’s past as a pineapple farm. Bedrooms will be simple yet elegant, and the bathrooms will have marble basins shaped like traditional Zulu pots. The spacious deck outside will have an island bar, while a decorative herb garden will be situated outside the kitchen.
andBeyond Phinda Homestead will reopen on September 1, 2018 and reservations are now open.
Also at andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, the intimate Phinda Vlei Lodge is due to receive a refurbishment. Guest bathrooms will be completely refurbished, while interiors will be an eclectic mix of curated antiques and collectibles. A library will also be added to the guest areas. The dining deck will be extended to allow for covered al fresco dining with views of the adjoining wetland.
Situated in Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara, andBeyond Bateleur Camp will also receive a complete refurbishment over the coming months, with the brand-new camp slated to reopen in March 2018. New details include built-in daybeds set on spacious verandas, lighter interiors and convenient butler hatches. Bathrooms will also be redesigned.
A massage sala situated next to a tranquil water feature will be a brand-new addition to the camp’s guest areas. A coffee and gin bar will be added and the swimming pool areas will be accentuated with new decking idea for outdoor dining. A spacious family suite has been planned to cater for families traveling together.
