Asilia Adventures to Offer Immersive Expeditions in East Africa

Safari operator Asilia announced the debut of its new collection of three- to seven-day experiences designed around showing travelers another side of East Africa. Asilia Adventures will take guests out of the safari car and instead offer walking expeditions, horse-riding safaris, fly fishing trips and more.

Asilia Adventures’ flagship offering will be the six-day “Traverse the Mara Conservancies on Foot” itinerary. Covering 12 miles every day, guests will cross the Maasai Mara, learning about and stopping at conservation and community projects along the way. Developed to protect the fragile Mara ecosystem and protect the livelihood of its inhabitants, these conservancies work with different communities and help protect the local wildlife.

While crossing the Maasai Mara’s big game country, guests will have the chance to see elephant, buffalo and maybe leopards or lions. Participants will spend their nights fly camping in the wild, cooking dinner over the fire and eating under the stars.

The new expedition collection will include offerings outside the Maasai Mara, too. Options include a visit Tanzania’s Yaeda Valley to spend time with the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers, a driving tour to the east of Tarangire on Series 1 Land Rovers and a log cabin retreat near Mount Kenya. Asilia Adventures will be available within "Adventure Season," which will last from November through May every year (excluding the December holidays).
