Following its return to the rails in February 2024, the Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train, Southeast Asia has announced a long-term partnership with the House of Dior to create the Dior Spa Eastern & Oriental Express. Already available, it is Dior’s first ever spa in the region and third on the rails. The train invites travelers on seasonal journeys departing from Singapore and traveling through Malaysia’s landscapes and cities: "The Essence of Malaysia" (November to February) and "Wild Malaysia" (March to October).
Following a temporary residency on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, Belmond’s first permanent Dior Spa launched on Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train, Scotland in April 2023, making the new Dior Spa Eastern & Oriental Express, Belmond’s third Dior Spa on a train. The new Dior Spa Eastern & Oriental Express will be housed in one of the train’s 16 Art Deco-inspired carriages. Completely dedicated to wellness, the carriage will boast the House of Dior’s iconic canework.
Using hand-crafted tropical wood materials, the interior is designed to blend with the natural surroundings in which the train winds through. In homage to Christian Dior’s love for flowers, the new Dior Spa Eastern & Oriental will use rose emblems on the carriage carpets, in shades of green and beige.
As for the onboard experience, guests will be taken into a dedicated reception area to discover the spa and its premium range of products before or after their treatment. The new wellbeing menu will include five tailor-made treatments devised by the French Maison’s Wellness Experts.
Signature treatment "D-Jungle," an exclusive face and body treatment of Asian inspiration, will offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a rhythmic, deep muscle massage from head to toe, performed using stretching techniques and targeting specific energy points. Signature treatments also include a relaxing "Constellation" massage designed to use a mix of massage techniques to relieve tension from the body. For the ultimate muscle relief, the "D-Tissue" massage uses deep, slow and soothing movements for those with a focus to release muscular pain.
The facial treatments at the spa will blend traditional Asian techniques with the Dior Prestige skincare line. Guests can indulge in the "Kobi-Dior Facial Treatment," a massage rooted in the ancient Japanese Kobido massage tradition that rejuvenates the skin. This treatment sculpts the face, leaving guests with a radiant and youthful appearance. For those seeking evening relaxation, "Le Soin de Minuit" incorporates meditative exercises designed to promote sleep and optimize skin regeneration.
As for the train experience, there are two itineraries that take in destinations like Penang, Langkawi and, for the first time, the Taman Negara National Park. Along the way, travelers will be treated to views of tropical rainforests, rivers and rice fields, as well as ancestral temples. The "Essence of Malaysia" tour is a three-night journey through the country’s western wonders, from Singapore through Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and, finally, to the island of Penang, which has century-old UNESCO World Heritage sites, along with street art and food.
The second itinerary, "Wild Malaysia," covers the untouched areas surrounding the "Jungle Railway," towards the eastern side of the peninsula, and gives guests the unique opportunity to visit the Taman Negara National Park. In collaboration with global tiger conservation organization, Save Wild Tigers, guests here can embark on a variety of excursions, from learning about the safeguarding of the Malayan Tiger to foraging experience in the jungle. Guests will then travel to the west side to visit Penang, choosing from three different activities to explore Penang’s artistic, culinary and historic heritage.
