Extraordinary Journeys Expands Into Indonesia

Extraordinary Journeys has announced its newest expansion to Indonesia, now offering custom adventures in Sumba, Komodo, Bali, Lombok, Java, Borneo and Sulawesi. Every journey is crafted to strike a balance between adventure, cultural immersion and relaxation, helping travelers uncover Indonesia’s landscapes, heritage and wildlife.

Lauren Jafry, head of sales and product development for Asia at Extraordinary Journeys, said guests can expect to travel in Borneo, via private-charter klotoks—traditional wooden riverboats—to travel through Kalimantan in search of orangutans and other wildlife. By contrast, the Komodo journeys—also entirely boat-based—utilize private phinisi yachts so that travelers are waking up in remote coves, "not jostling with day-trippers from Labuan Bajo."

In Bali, Jafry adds, while some itineraries include touchpoints in Ubud or Seminyak—"because they do offer meaningful experiences when done right"—travelers will also be encouraged to discover the island’s quieter sides: the terraced valleys of Sidemen in the east, the black-sand beaches of the west, the misty coffee highlands of the north.

What to Expect on an Indonesia itinerary from Extraordinary Journeys:

  • Expert guides – Whether temple-hopping, hiking through rice terraces or sailing, Extraordinary Journeys’ English-speaking guides provide deep cultural insights and local connections.
  • Exclusive experiences – Every journey is tailored to the traveler, including private tours, hands-on workshops and bespoke excursions designed around guests’ passions, from wildlife encounters in Borneo to snorkeling or diving in Wakatobi or exploring Balinese Hindu traditions.
  • Seamless travel – Island-hopping in Indonesia requires careful planning; Extraordinary Journeys handles all logistics, including private transfers, flights and boats so visitors can focus on enjoying their adventure.
  • 24/7 support – With on-the-ground assistance and a 24/7 concierge, Extraordinary Journeys ensures a worry-free experience from start to finish.

The company’s launch into Indonesia also showcases its commitment to sustainable tourism practices. Each itinerary is designed to ensure that travel dollars directly support local communities and conservation efforts in each destination. This expansion reinforces the company’s vision of leaving a positive impact on both the environment and the cultures visited.
