Austin Adventures has announced a new travel program in Costa Rica that combines an authentic jungle adventure with all the luxuries you expect. Costa Rica: Chiquita Glamping & Pacuare River Raft is an eight-day, seven-night experience that brings guests into the wilds of Costa Rica.
Year-round departures and additional itinerary options are available and can be adjusted to suit the traveler’s availability and desires.
The adventure begins in Carara National Park where guests explore the river basin of the River Tárcoles, which hosts one of the largest remaining populations of wild scarlet macaws in the country.
From there they head to Isla Chiquita Glamping Resort by boat. This is where guests will stay for three nights. The large platform tents feature a king bed, day bed lounger, private shower and bathroom with double sinks, and large lounging deck with ocean views.
During the stay, guests visit Curú National Wildlife Refuge where they will find pristine beaches and abundant wildlife while kayaking or paddle boarding. Guests then transfer to Tortuga Island where they can snorkel with colorful sea life.
Next on the itinerary is a whitewater rafting on the Pacuare River - rated by National Geographic as one of the Top 10 river trips in the world. Here they visit the Cabecar village and meet with the largest indigenous tribe in Costa Rica. A family from the community will share their centuries-old traditions.
After some zip lining there's more rafting followed by a stopover at the deluxe, eco-sensitive Pacuare Lodge, accessible only by whitewater raft. Guests can opt to fine 60 feet above the forest floor in a platform built on the branches of a century-old Kapok tree. This lodge was given National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World status.
After two nights at the lodge and another morning on the river, guests are transferred back to San José for their final overnight at Hotel Grano de Oro, a “Tropical Victorian” house with a world-class restaurant. Airport transfers are offered the next morning.
