Off the Map Travel is offering a new train journey named “Midnight Sun by Rail.” The north-to-south trip stops at key points from Narvik, Norway to Stockholm, Sweden
Starting with an overnight stay in Oslo, Norway guests then fly north into the Arctic Circle in Narvik, which is home to Polar Park, the world’s most northerly wildlife park where wolves, polar bears and lynx reside. From there, travelers board the Arctic Circle Train to Björkliden, Sweden to stay in a mountainside Kappas Cabin overlooking Lake Torneträsk. One of Sweden’s largest lakes, Lake Torneträsk offers a scenic vista onto the Midnight Sun. In Björkliden and nearby Abisko, guests have the option of taking a midnight hike – where they won’t need flashlights.
The next stop on the train journey is Kiruna. Here, guests stay in a suite made entirely of ice at the world-famous ICEHOTEL, now available during the summer. Guests can opt for hiking, paddle boarding, and white-water rafting on the River Torne from which the ice rooms were carved.
The train then heads south across the Arctic Circle to Lulea, where the sun is guaranteed to dip below the horizon, and stops at the Treehotel, a group of seven tree houses hidden four to six meters up in the canopy of the forest. The itinerary concludes in a private first-class cabin to Stockholm. After arriving from the overnight ride, guests have a full day to explore the Swedish capital.
Midnight Sun by Rail can be customized to fit the interests and needs of any guest. A complete itinerary detail can be found here.
