Selara Africa, a new luxury tour operator that sells only through travel advisors, has entered the North American market with commissions of up to 15% and a launch bonus worth as much as 2 additional percentage points.

The company, which launched Sept. 22, is starting with custom itineraries in Botswana, Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, and Tanzania. More destinations and small-group departures are planned.

Commissions scale with an advisor's sales volume and are paid in the month the client departs. The launch bonus covers bookings made through March 31, 2027. Once an advisor reaches a revenue threshold, the added percentage applies to all qualifying sales, on top of standard commission.

"Travel advisors don't need another supplier; they need a partner who is genuinely invested in their success," Sherwin Banda, president of Selara Africa, said in prepared remarks.

Most of Selara Africa's staff live in Africa, and the company manages in-country partners and logistics on the advisor's behalf. Advisors retain ownership of the client relationship.

"Their clients remain their clients, as we work behind the scenes to help advisors sell Africa with confidence," Banda said.

The company also offers destination training, marketing materials, and familiarization trips.

“Selara Africa was built on a simple belief: when advisors grow their Africa business, we grow with them. Their success is the measure of our own,” added Banda. “As Africans, there’s no greater joy than sharing the diversity, beauty and spirit of our continent with more people – and we’re delighted to be doing so alongside the advisors who make those journeys possible.”
