Destination management company Tahiti Islands Travel has unveiled a new wellness retreat. For the first time, visitors to French Polynesia can connect with the authentic spirit of Tahiti, with the “Sacred Life” itinerary—the latest offering by the Papeete-based tour operator. The week-long experience enables travelers to be embraced by Mana, "the life force of Tahiti."
Departing April 30, 2022, this small group experience is designed by local Tahitian personalities: Merehani Parker of Tahiti Islands Travel and Rani Chavez, a certified Satva instructor of Ipuāni Yoga & Lifestyle Tahiti. Ancient Polynesian customs and traditions will be explored over the course of a week. Traditional waterfall cleansing rituals and a Polynesian fire ceremony will be among the highlights, besides yoga at sunrise and sunset under the Polynesian sky.
Guests can discover two of the lesser-known gems of French Polynesia—the islands of Tahiti and Raiatea. Tahiti is referred to as the “Queen of the Islands” by locals. Visitors can explore black-sand beaches, the sacred Papenoo valley and the historic Tautira village. They will also learn about local plants, traditional medicines and their uses dating back centuries.
On a trip to Raiatea, known as the cradle of Polynesian civilization, experts will lead guests on a journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Taputapuatea. Guests will also participate in a stargazing experience; the more adventurous ones can hike up Mount Temehani in search of the rare Tahitian gardenia.
The retreat is priced at $7,500 per guest and is commissionable to the travel trade. Rates are inclusive of transfers, domestic flights, accommodation (single basis), most meals and all yoga, meditation and excursions.
