New Zealand In Depth will soon be offering a new wine-centric program for travelers, based around and recognizing the winners of the Air New Zealand 2016 Wine Awards.
The 13-day New Zealand Food and Wine Tour allows travelers to experience local food paired with award-winning wines. Visits include the country’s three main wine regions: Hawkes Bay, located on the North Island and offers its award-winning Chardonnay and full-bodied Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot; Marlborough, which lies on the top of the South Island and is known for its acclaimed Sauvignon Blanc and other aromatic white wines; and the Central Otago, which is the world’s “most southerly wine-growing region and is home to some of the world’s best Pinot Noir,” according to a written release.
Those who book this tour will sample some of New Zealand In Depth’s “insider favorites,” including the Bordeaux-style Stonyridge Vineyard Larose on Waiheke Island and the Endeavour Chardonnay at Clearview Estate Winery in Hawke’s Bay, the barrel-aged Sur Lie Sauvignon Blanc from Hans Herzog and Alsace-style Gewurztraminer at Johanneshof Cellars in Marlborough, and the oaked Fume Blanc at Amisfield Winery in Arrowtown and single-vineyard Cornish Point Pinot Noir, which are both showcased in Central Otago.
New Zealand In Depth founder and self-proclaimed wine lover Paul Carberry said in the release that the tour is suitable whether travelers are wine experts or “passionate enthusiasts” of good food and wine like he is.
This tour also visits places like Auckland and Napier, where they can partake in beach activities and city sightseeing, Blenheim and Queenstown, where they can spend some time hiking along the Queen Charlotte Track, cycling to the vineyards and partake in adventure sports and boat outings.
Accommodations on this trip include lodges and inns selected for their personalized service, location and gourmet offerings, while travel is typically by ferry, plane and car, starting in Auckland on the North Island and ending in Queenstown on the South Island. This itinerary can be fully customized for travelers’ personal activity, wine and dining preferences, and can be booked from September 2017 to June 2018.
