After an 18-month makeover and expansion, Air Canada has unveiled its new Vancouver International Maple Leaf Lounge. The lounge is located opposite the priority security lanes for international departures at Air Canada's trans-Pacific hub. It provides a high-end space for eligible customers to relax, refuel, and refresh before their flight.
Designed by Vancouver-based Gustavson Wylie Architects Inc, the Maple Leaf Lounge has a seating capacity for more than 250 customers. The two-level space showcases modern Canadian design and artwork.
Decorating the space is work by Kendall Kendrick from Vancouver as well as Nicolas Ruel and Danielle Roy, both from Montreal. The lounge was furnished by Canadian designers Brent Comber, Birchwood Furniture, Nienkamper, and Mobilier Modern. In the business zone, a custom crafter work table was designed by Live Edge Design of Duncan, BC from wood salvaged from a maple tree in the Cowichan Valley.
The business zone is also equipped with flat screen desktop computers and RICOH color printing and scanning. Complementary Wi-Fi and charging stations are available throughout the lounge.
Travelers who need a pick-me-up before their flight can get hot and cold dining options as well as wines from Canada and from around the world. There is also a spa-inspired shower room with rain shower heads, a Samsung TV zone, a VIP room and a quiet zone with reclining lounge seating.
Air Canada offers premium customers access to Maple Lounges in 22 locations around the world, including 16 in Canada. There are also locations at New York-LaGuardia, New York-Newark, LAX, London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Paris.
