American Airlines recently debuted its premium Boeing 787-9 aircraft, carrying more than 200 customers on its inaugural flight from Chicago (ORD) to Los Angeles (LAX). Customers on the inaugural Boeing 787-9 flight received a gift bag with commemorative items, including a flight tag designed for the aircraft’s debut.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft features 51 Flagship Suite seats, offering extra storage space, a wireless charging pad, USB-C and AC power and a chaise lounge seating option with an adjustable headrest pillow. Prior to boarding, customers in this cabin receive Priority check-in, security, boarding and baggage handling. When traveling on a long-haul international flight, customers have access to the airline’s Flagship lounge prior to departure. Additionally, during the flight, Flagship Suite service offers a multicourse meal paired with wines, the newly introduced Brandon Blackwood amenity kits and a duvet blanket with a special dual-sided pillow.
Customers opting for Premium Economy will experience the redesigned seat with new headrest wings that give customers additional privacy as well as new calf and footrests for enhanced comfort. The 32 Premium Economy seats also feature a new trim and finish, wireless charging, water bottle storage and USB-C and AC power, ensuring customers have a place for everything during their journey.
Customers traveling in Main Cabin will enjoy a personalized in-flight experience. Each seat offers USB-C and AC power and 4K QLED screens, featuring the newest in-flight entertainment technology from Thales that includes a range of entertainment options, from blockbuster movies to audiobooks and children’s shows.
Bluetooth connection is available across all cabins, giving customers the choice to use their personal headsets to enjoy the numerous entertainment options available on the airline’s in-flight entertainment screens.
American Airlines has also announced the launch of several new international routes as part of its summer schedule. The airline has debuted nonstop service from Miami (MIA) to Rome (FCO) and Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) to Venice (VCE).
American Airlines has also launched a new service from Charlotte, NC (CLT) to Athens (ATH). The airline will offer four daily flights to Greece this summer.
Earlier this summer, the airline also launched new nonstop service from ORD to Naples, Italy (NAP); Philadelphia (PHL) to Edinburgh (EDI); and PHL to Milan (MXP). Customers looking to explore Spain now have another option with the new nonstop service from ORD to Madrid (MAD) that started in March.
