One of Peru’s luxury rail service to Machu Picchu, Inca Rail, has launched a new kids’ program onboard its First Class Machu Picchu Train. The offerings will enhance the family travel experience through the Sacred Valley by providing entertainment for children that is educational, interactive and engaging. The Cusco-to-Machu Picchu journey takes almost four hours.
The new programming onboard the First Class Train offers children coloring books, entertainment kits, a variety of board games and a new gourmet kids menu. The kids’ menu is inspired by Andean organic ingredients and locally sourced herbs; options include tricolor vegetable pasta salad and a vegetable omelet with Andean potatoes and cheese gratin. The menu also offers light snacks like fresh guacamole, chicken nuggets with golden potatoes and wonton fingers with Andean cheese. Seasonal fresh fruit, homemade chocolate mousse and creamy lemon pie are offered for dessert.
The kids’ programming is offered upon arrival to the Ollantaytambo train station where each young passenger receives a packet of trace coloring sheets. These are designed to be both fun and informative, as images are themed around Peruvian culture, cuisine and landmarks. The entertainment kit is provided once onboard the First Class Train. The kits include a coloring book, colored pencils, word puzzles, mazes and more. Additionally, a variety of board games that are suitable for all ages, such as Guess Who?, Connect 4 and Dominoes, are located in each First Class carriage.
Inca Rail’s kids’ programming is offered exclusively on-board the First Class Train and is available to children up to 10 years old. The kids’ offerings come at no additional cost and are fully inclusive of the First Class ticket price. The new kids’ amenities come in addition to current features on-board the First Class Train, including access to the spacious and elegant observatory lounge and outdoor balcony, a full service bar, live Peruvian music and an Andean themed three-course tasting menu paired with regional wines.
