Quark Expeditions has announced the launch of “Antarctica by Helicopter: Icebergs, Mountains, and Remote Lands” itinerary. This all-inclusive itinerary harnesses the advanced capabilities of the Ultramarine and its twin-engine helicopters to access rarely visited regions of the Antarctic Peninsula, including Antarctic Sound, Erebus and Terror Gulf, and the Weddell Sea.
Over the course of 12 days, guests will enjoy exceptional aerial views of the continent through a minimum of two helicopter flightseeing excursions and one helicopter landing—all included in the cost of the expedition. Additionally, guests will continue to explore the continent through zodiac rides and land excursions. Onboard, they will attend briefings and lectures led by leading experts in glaciology, penguinology, marine biology and more, in addition to complimentary Wi-Fi and bar service.
In experiencing the Weddell Sea and Erebus and Terror Gulf by air, land and sea, guests will immerse themselves in the less frequented eastern side of the peninsula—one that few have witnessed from all vantage points. They’ll have the opportunity to marvel at tabular icebergs broken off from some of the largest ice shelves in Antarctica, visit Adélie penguin colonies on Brown Bluff, Devil Island or Paulet Island, and search for wildlife, including whales and Emperor Penguins among the floating ice.
"Antarctica by Helicopter" is now available as two exclusive itineraries departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina via Ultramarine on November 27 and December 7, 2025. As part of this itinerary, guests will have the opportunity to visit other locations including Deception Island, a circular caldera formed by the collapse of an active volcano; James Ross Island, known for its discovery of dinosaurs and other prehistoric fossils; and Livingston Island, home to the most spectacular mountains in the South Shetland Islands.
