Turkish Airlines has added a Stopover service for transfer passengers departing from its nine U.S. gateways and flying to Africa, Eastern Europe and Balkans, South Europe, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan.
Passengers flying to these destinations who have more than 20 hours of connection time in Istanbul can receive complimentary accommodations in centrally located neighborhoods and the opportunity to explore Istanbul during transit. Economy class passengers will receive a one-night stay at a four-star hotel in Sultanahmet, while those flying in business class will receive two nights at a five-star hotel in Taksim. Travelers will receive accommodation vouchers from Turkish Airlines’ authorized staff after completing the flight booking process.
“Turkish Airlines’ ‘Stopover’ program aims to create an elevated experience for our passengers, as well as contributing to Turkey’s tourism activities by bringing in-transit passengers from Turkish Airlines into our fascinating hub city, Istanbul,” said Ahmet Olmuştur, chief marketing officer of Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines’ Stopover program joins the airline’s recently introduced Istanbul Bosphorus Experience that encourages passengers to explore Istanbul during a layover. The Istanbul Bosphorus Experience is available for business class passengers who have a transfer time of seven or more hours and would like to visit the city before continuing the trip to their final destination. The journey includes a boat tour of the Bosphorus and exploration of historical landmarks including a dining experience at the Çırağan Palace Kempinski.
