Any regular traveler knows how stressful traveling can be. But Yoga on the Fly, a new private airport yoga concept, is trying to give passengers and travel employees a little escape.
The studio provides travelers everything they need to de-stress before their flight including easy-to-follow instructional videos, yoga mats and wireless headsets within each of its private, mini studios.
The first Yoga on the Fly studio is set to open November 6 in the Denver International Airport with additional locations rolling out in 2018.
Founders Elizabeth Feinstone and Avery Westlund met while teaching yoga on a retreat in Nicaragua. The two connected over their love of travel, as well as the negative effects it can have on the mind and body. Knowing that yoga can help recuperate from travel, they began to wonder if yoga could prevent physical and mental discomforts before takeoff.
"We are thrilled to be introducing the world's first-ever guided, private yoga and meditation experience within airports," said Feinstone in a written statement. "Our goal is to elevate the passenger and staff experience, offering an accessible respite from the chaos of travel."
Travelers at the Denver airport will check in at the reception desk before heading to one of five private studio rooms. Classes range from eight to 20 minutes and include yoga, meditation and breathwork via instructional iPad videos. Classes can be combined for longer sessions and are specially designed for travel-related issues including poor circulation, muscle aches, anxiety and more. The studio features Yoga By Numbers mats, SoundOff wireless headphones, and an essentials 'beauty bar.'
There is also a retail area to buy wellness themed products.
The Yoga on the Fly Denver studio will begin a 90-day residency for the holiday season, open Sundays-Fridays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sessions range in price from $15 to $60 depending on desired studio time.
