Internova Travel Group announced the launch of Internova Green Circle, an eco-luxe sustainability initiative. The program was announced at Global Travel Collection’s Elevate 2023 Conference at the new Virgin Hotels New York City. The event connected 400 advisors from the high-service premium and luxury travel division with 280 partners.
Through advocacy, education, partnerships and initiatives, Green Circle aims to encourage travel advisors, customers, suppliers and employees to work together to help reduce the strain on the planet’s finite resources and to enrich local communities and cultures. “Green,” according to Internova, represents nature and symbolizes growth, renewal and harmony, while “Circle” refers to the earth, the circle of life, environmental stewardship and responsible sourcing. Internova’s steps will include contributing to conservation projects, minimizing carbon footprints and promoting a holistic approach to sustainability through all the company’s brands and divisions.
Green Circle will expand on Internova’s existing sustainability efforts. Starting in 2024, a portion of the sales proceeds from Internova’s programs booked by its advisors will go toward supporting verified carbon sequestration programs around the world. Carbon sequestration is one method of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, with the goal of reducing climate change.
Global Travel Collection—a division of Internova—represents travel agencies and advisors worldwide that service luxury leisure, entertainment, production and corporate clients. Travel brands that are part of Global Travel Collection include Protravel International, Tzell Travel Group, Colletts Travel, Andrew Harper, In the Know Experiences, All Star Travel Group and R. Crusoe & Son. Advisors have access to Internova’s programs that reward travelers with bonus services and experiences, including Internova Select Hotels & Resorts, Internova Curated Hotels & Resorts, Internova Select In-Country Partners, Internova Worldwide Hotel Program, Bonotel Exclusive Travel, Distinctive Voyages, Roadtrips sports travel and Altour Air, which provides private jet services.
Internova’s brands represent more than 100,000 travel advisors in over 6,000 company-owned and affiliated locations predominantly in the United States, Canada and the U.K., with a presence in more than 80 countries. Because of its size and reach, Internova has the ability to influence a more equitable future for the company’s advisors, clients, employees and local communities.
As part of its pledge to help fight the effects of global climate change, Internova partnered with Sustainable Travel International, which has over 15 years of experience developing successful sustainable travel practices and supporting several carbon offset programs for the travel industry.
Earlier this year, the company introduced two new initiatives to help clients of Global Travel Collection advisors reduce their travel emissions—a Climate Action 1% Program for Leisure Travelers and a Climate Positive Program for Corporate and Event Customers. Internova is also on a path to becoming carbon neutral with its employee travel by the end of 2023.
