Luxury destination management company Ker & Downey Africa is positioning itself to cater for the pent-up demand for travel to Africa by expanding its footprint in key source markets across the globe. In addition to the existing operations in North America, Latin America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China and Hong Kong, the company is now expanding into Russia/Eastern Europe, France and Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Said Lee Kelsall, CEO of the Ker & Downey Africa Group, in a press statement: “We are starting to see a sustained uptick in business from our major source markets. This is clearly linked to the success of the country’s vaccination programs. The leader in this respect is the U.S.A., where there is clearly increased demand for tailored itineraries for upscale travelers, and we expect Europe to follow suit in the coming months.”
Having retained its key staff through the course of the pandemic and continuing to invest in marketing and technology, the company says it is well-positioned to benefit from the rebound in travel to Africa that will liekly follow in the coming months. The super-luxury destination management company services top boutique agencies and luxury tour operators and specializes in tailor-made travel to Southern Africa, East Africa and Indian Ocean island destinations, such as Mauritius, Seychelles, Mozambique and Madagascar.
Ker & Downey Africa has also recruited specialist African sales consultants on both the West and East coast of the U.S. California-based consultant Danalee May joins Sharleen Smith, the team’s Florida-based consultant, as the second U.S.-based consultant for the North America division.
May has over 22 years of experience in the safari industry. Born in South Africa, she has traveled extensively throughout the continent and specializes in travel to South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and Egypt.
