Red Savannah has acquired Homebase Abroad, a U.S.-based company specializing in vacation rentals exclusively in the Italian villa market. The deal expands both Red Savannah’s U.S. clientele network and its portfolio of luxury villa properties. Homebase Abroad is Red Savannah’s first acquisition.
George Morgan-Grenville, Red Savannah’s CEO and Founder, said in a press release that the company has been looking at several acquisition opportunities in recent years but “Homebase Abroad was the first business we felt was properly aligned from both a philosophical and demographic standpoint.” Additional terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Here’s what you need to know:
The team at Homebase Abroad, headquartered in Marblehead, MA, will continue to oversee all villa vacations booked for 2021. On January 1, 2022, all Homebase Abroad bookings will transition to Red Savannah with Homebase’s founder and director, Mara Solomon, remaining closely involved as a Red Savannah Ambassador.
The U.S. is currently Red Savannah’s second-largest market, representing 45 percent of its business, and much of the growth in recent years has been in Europe—especially the luxury villa sector, the company says. Good to know: Red Savannah has an array of new offerings, including luxury villas throughout Europe such as the 18-bedroom Chateau Margui in the South of France, part of the personal property portfolio of film producer George Lucas, as well as contemporary Villa Malvan in the Cote d’Azur town of Vence (within walking distance of Matisse’s Chapelle du Rosaire), and Villa del Monte, a smart country house amidst the hills and vineyards of Chianti.
Red Savannah also has new experiences in the Mediterranean in popular island destinations such as Ibiza, where a trio of super-chic villas—Villa Josep, Can Bonita and Villa Xi—can be rented individually or together to accommodate up to 44. The collection has also expanded in the northeast corner of Corfu, Greece: Villa Kerasia in Corfu sits close to the beach with waterfront tavernas looking out over the Ionian Sea. In addition, Red Savannah also increased its collection of luxury gulets and yachts in the Mediterranean, with summer 2021 additions in Croatia and Montenegro.
