Signature Travel Network has announced its Signature Educational Journeys (SEJ) program for 2024. Exclusive to Signature members, this program provides travel advisors the opportunity to embark on transformative, educational trips that offer responsible and impactful travel experiences while gaining a deeper understanding of the destinations and services of the host company.
The SEJ program allows participants to deepen their expertise while making a positive impact. Of all 23 SEJs, 22 have incorporated a positive impact travel experience from Africa to Central and South America and even European destinations. These curated trips include voluntourism activities and spotlight sustainable travel practices by the network’s suppliers. Destinations span the globe, from Singapore and Zambia to Australia and the South Pacific. Signature expects nearly 190 travel advisors to participate in the 2024 SEJ program.
By traveling sustainably, advisors also gain valuable insights to promote Signature’s socially conscious travel partners. From wildlife conservation to cultural preservation, these trips offer immersive behind-the-scenes looks at how to travel the world ethically.
On one of the trips to Nepal, a small donation of the SEJ price went to a project called “Bicycle for Girl” where Dharma Adventures distributes bicycles to girl students in the villages in Chitwan National Park. By riding bicycles to school, the girls save about two hours daily. The selected girls are from marginalized families and the program aims to address commuting challenges faced by female students in the Chitwan area, hindering their daily journey to school and leading to circumstances where girls are either withdrawn from school or drop out at a very young age. To receive bicycles, they only need to be students from financially challenged families.
“Giving my clients guidance about Nepal and Bhutan is a gift and a tool I can use over and over,” said Laura Krugly, travel advisor at The Journey Set/Well Traveled Texan. “From how to handle the altitude, learning about the fabric of religion and beliefs of the people to the fascination of the Himalayas, there is so much to share and educate clients with to get the most out of their time in the country. I was proud to be there with Dharma Adventures who have been an essential part of the tourism story for over 30 years. Pawan and his team are our secret weapon to our clients’ successful and meaningful journeys.”
