Valerie Wilson Travel (VWT) has acquired Island Travel, a prominent luxury travel agency in the Hilton Head region of South Carolina. In a statement announcing the decision Valerie Wilson Travel said that the move would solidify its position in Hilton Head and the surrounding area.
Island Travel, a member of Virtuoso, has two offices that have served the Beaufort County area for over 37 years. Jim Buckley and Carlo Hillard, previous owners, as well as the Island Travel team, will stay on, Valerie Wilson Travel said.
Brian Buttigieg, CFO, and Kimberly Wilson Wetty, co-owner and co-president at VWT, were instrumental in completing this acquisition, while Innovative Travel Acquisitions, Inc., based in Alpharetta, GA, represented Island Travel.
Jim Buckley, a 21-year veteran of the travel industry and Owner of Island Travel along with Carlo Hilliard, founder and part owner, will continue to be involved in client outreach initiatives. In a written statement Buckley noted that, since both companies are currently members of Virtuoso, clients would be able to continue to enjoy Virtuoso benefits.
Valerie Wilson Travel, headquartered in New York, NY, was founded by Valerie Ann Wilson, chairman and chief executive officer, in 1981, and managed along with her two daughters, Co-Owners and Co-Presidents Jennifer Wilson-Buttigieg and Kimberly Wilson Wetty. Valerie Wilson Travel has offices across the United States servicing corporate, leisure and meetings, incentives and fulfillment clients. All Valerie Wilson Travel locations, now including Island Travel, are members of Virtuoso.
