Virtuoso has announced the appointment of Úna O’Leary as general manager for Canada. In her new role, O’Leary will be responsible for driving Virtuoso’s business development to increase its footprint within the country through strategic partnerships focused on expanding its global network of travel agency members and preferred travel providers, while elevating the group’s brand awareness and preference among affluent consumers. This marks the latest in strategic global hires for Virtuoso, which earlier this year announced new general manager roles in other regions, including Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
O’Leary brings extensive industry experience and deep market knowledge to her new role, including more than five years at CWT (formerly Carlson Wagonlit Travel), a Virtuoso member agency, as senior director of marketing and strategic partnerships, North America. “During my time at CWT, I managed the Virtuoso relationship and it allowed me to get to know the organization from the agency perspective,” said O’Leary in a press release.
Prior to joining Virtuoso, O’Leary also held senior-level positions at Ensemble Travel Group, CIBC Insurance and American Express, where she was recognized for building strong partner and stakeholder relationships and for cultivating high-performing teams.
“Úna will bring to our team vast distribution expertise along with in-depth knowledge of the Canadian market, an important region for Virtuoso, and one of the most prolific traveling nations in the world,” said Michael Londregan, Virtuoso’s senior vice president, global operations, in a press note.
O’Leary joined Virtuoso on September 20, and is based in Toronto.
