Palm Beach, Florida is preparing for a season of festivals, art exhibitions, opera performances, hotel packages and more.
The 32-key White Elephant Palm Beach is located just off Main Street and only two blocks from the ocean. It offers residential-style rooms and suites, 120 original pieces of art, and a U-shaped outdoor courtyard and pool deck. The building offers a glimpse into the architectural history of Palm Beach, particularly now that the property has launched an “Architecture & Preservation Package,” which offers two nights in a one-bedroom suite and a one-and-a-half-hour architecture tour of the island led by a representative from the Palm Beach Preservation Foundation. For greater immersion in the local culture, “A Night at Palm Beach Opera” package is available for two-night weekend stays in a one-bedroom suite on select dates from January 20 through March 25. Guests will be whisked to the Palm Beach Opera for three performances—Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly,” Mozart’s “Così fan Tutte” and Verdi’s “Falstaff”—where they can enjoy two premier seats, four complimentary cocktails, and transfers to and from the Kravis Center of the Performing Arts. The “Personal Shopper Package” includes a one-hour virtual consult pre-arrival, two nights in a suite, an afternoon hitting local boutiques with a personal shopper, besides cocktails and snacks up to $200 at the hotel’s LoLa 41 restaurant (must be booked a week in advance).
This winter, the Norton Museum of Art will host several exhibitions and events. On view through February 12, “A Personal View on High Fashion and Street Style” will bring together 300 works of photography by over 100 fashion photographers from the 1930s onwards. A separate exhibition on Joseph Stella will give visitors a broader appreciation of the artist’s oeuvre beyond his Futurist-inspired paintings of New York (through January 15). Meanwhile, the Society of the Four Arts is preparing to host the first-ever comprehensive exhibition of contemporary Japanese lacquer sculpture (through January 22); an exhibit that explores the evolution of portraiture in 81 artworks (February 4 through April 2); and a showcase of 11 large works depicting the cities of Venice, Istanbul and St. Petersburg by Austrian artist Eduard Angeli (February 4 through April 2).
Winter in Palm Beach promises a jam-packed social calendar of festivals, music series, and other events. From December 8-11, the “Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival” returns to the island with a lineup of chef-led lunches and dinners, wine tastings, a BBQ “meat-up,” and a “yacht rock” experience. The “Winter Equestrian Festival” (January 4 to April 2) coincides with the “Palm Beach International Polo Season” at the nearby International Polo Club Palm Beach. From February 16-21, the “Palm Beach Jewel & Antique Show” will return for its 20th year, showcasing rare stones and objects spanning every genre. For families, the “ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival” (February 15-21) combines fine art, live entertainment, artist demonstrations, interactive art activities and a youth art competition.
From the culinary scene, Palm Beach is opening outposts of some of New York’s top restaurants—from Estiatorio Milos and Felice to RPM Italian, Harry’s, Adrienne’s and Tacombi.
Nonstop flights are available to both Palm Beach and Miami from several U.S. cities including New York, Washington D.C., Boston, Dallas and Los Angeles. Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) also welcomed a number of new routes from across the U.S. JetBlue launched nonstop services from Los Angeles, Chicago and Pittsburgh; United Airlines has introduced flights from New York LaGuardia Airport, Boston and Cleveland; and Frontier is launching direct flights from Denver to West Palm.
