The Napa Valley Wine Train has announced the return of the “Grape Stomp at Grgich Hills” package, an experience exclusively available during harvest season. After a gourmet multi-course lunch prepared by Chef Rodrigo Cuadra aboard the Wine Train, guests will arrive at Grgich Hills Estate to stomp on freshly picked grapes. Guests will then enjoy a private tasting of Reserve wines.
The schedule will mirror last year’s with check-in at 10:30 a.m. and boarding at 10:50 a.m. The train departs from its Downtown Napa station at 11:30 a.m. for the one-hour journey to Grgich Hills Estate where the first two courses of a multi-course gourmet lunch is served before arriving at 12:30 p.m. when guests take part in the culmination of the experience, stomping grapes and enjoying the latest releases. Only four table groupings are sold each day so guests receive dedicated attention from a Grgich Hills Estate wine educator. Guests then re-board the train at 1:30 p.m. to embark back to the station while enjoying coffee service and a dessert before deboarding at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for the “Grape Stomp at Grgich Hills” experience are only offered from September 2 through October 25, 2024, Monday through Friday.
One of the few active historic passenger railroads in the United States, the Napa Valley Wine Train sports vintage Pullman rail cars restored with Honduran mahogany paneling, brass accents, etched glass partitions and luxurious armchairs. Passengers can enjoy fine dining service, multi-course meals cooked to order and the Napa Valley scenery. Conveniently located in downtown Napa, the train offers a car-free transportation option that brings guests from San Francisco to Napa Valley via the San Francisco Bay Ferry.
